Phil and Beverley Knight have been successfully running Key Street Bar of Music in Clitheroe since 1996. All four sons are involved as well, including the youngest who is still at school but, like everyone else, is passionate about Key Street Bar of Music and the live music presented here. So, it truly is a family business, available for functions and private parties.
As a professional drummer I travelled the world and played for many great artistes, so it isn’t surprising that I decided to channel my experience in the direction of Key Street Bar of Music. What is surprising is that, rather than being one of ‘the’ places to go in London’s West End, here we are in the heart of the small Lancashire town of Clitheroe! Not only that, but we have survived and thrived since 1996 and, because of our unique appeal, visitors travel great distances to enjoy what we provide, including from London!
We have struck the right key at Key Street Bar of Music and created a fantastic music theme in all three of our busy bars. We also have a brilliant heated outside area which is open all year and is great for summer barbecues. Our passion, though and the reason why Key Street Bar of Music remains so popular, is the range of quality live music staged. Rock, Pop, Jazz, Folk, it’s all here in the form of local bands who we encourage as well as attracting artistes from much further afield. Not all well known perhaps but this is an opportunity to catch many “on their way up!” and they join the ranks of the famous, such as ‘The Animals’, Hank Marvin and Knowle Redding, true legends who have performed at Key Street Bar of Music.
Key Street Bar of Music welcomes all who are over 18, adhere to a reasonable dress code and who want to contribute to an evening where there is no trouble and where everyone can thoroughly enjoy themselves. That is our very successful policy and to protect the huge majority from the possible tiny minority, we also have 18 CCTV cameras throughout the premises. All this also enables us to remain on friendly terms with our neighbours.
So, having introduced these safeguards for the benefit of all, an estimated 70% can be termed enthusiastic ‘regulars’ and cover all age groups. Many have become friends and we are on first name terms with all of them. They come from every walk of life and we are very happy to encourage well intentioned parties such as Bike and Scooter rallies to join the ever increasing number who enjoy the facilities of this unique nightspot.
At Key Street Bar of Music. parking tends not to be a problem as the large public car park opposite is free during the evenings and on Sundays. Why not join Beverley, the boys and myself in discovering the unique appeal of Key Street Bar of Music.
Finally, biker/scooter clubs etc; are all welcome to hold meetings/functions and charity events here at Key Street Bar of Music.
